No Place Like Home

No Place Like Home: Interior photographs of private dwellings, reproduced as drawings on paper via an artist’s imagination and applied to fishing nets. The installation refers to the current wave of refugees and to all those who attempt to reach Europe via the Mediterranean (43’000 migrants in 2013; more than a million in 2015). The interiors show illusions of a happy life in Europe smoothly seguing into memories of the home that was left behind. The nets become the symbol of all that separates the two worlds, and the cardboard house represents the sad reality of the existence waiting for the soon-to-be hopeless arrivals.
