Today: No longer

Today: no longer engages with Time and Time’s storage and presentation formats. The project comprises three groups of works, examining Past, Present, and Future. Disembodied Time’s properties are displayed: nunc stans, the abiding Now; and Time, too, is not portrayed as a linear progression but as a spatial mesh with cracks and fissures, wrinkles and flats. Exploring Time as a concept, one arrives at the paradoxical result that Time does not yet exist in the Future, no longer exists in the Past, and that, in the shape of the Present, it is reduced to a nearly dimensionless moment, the Now (R. Safransky, „Zeit“).

Star images: constellation, time-lapsed #1-6 (Present) visualises the intangible between Future’s ‚Not Yet‘ and Past’s ‚No Longer‘ (Augustine). The stars- Menkalinan, Nembus, Nekkar, Al Kaphrah, Basel, Tania Borealis-protrude out of the Past into the Present and continue, immutable, into the Future.

Ermitter #1-8 (Past) involves itself with existing storage for Time: crystals and minerals. The zeolites, Time compressed and solidified, hover like stars in the darkness of space- Time moving through Time.

The object Today: no longer engages with Future: Our future, materialising as home-grow dangers such as refuse, was never as close to us as today (R. Safranski „Zeit“). But what if Time were but a thought? If overcoming it only required an immense effort?
